According to rental platform Housing Anywhere International, both Lisbon and Porto saw a 25 percent increase in the cost of renting an apartment in April through June 2023 compared to the same three month period last year. As Statista's Anna Fleck reports, this is an alarming rate, especially considering how local salaries (which are already low compared with much of the rest of Europe) are not rising at anywhere near the same pace.
